Allianz Care is the international health insurance brand of the Allianz group, carried legally by AWP Health & Life SA through its Irish branch (Allianz Partners), in Dublin. The programme began in 2000 under the name Allianz Worldwide Care before taking its current name: it is one of the longest-standing players in the expatriate market, with a claimed direct-billing care network of more than two million professionals and facilities.
Individuals take out one of three plans, Care Base, Care Enhanced or Care Signature, with the reimbursement ceiling rising from one plan to the next. The coverage zone is chosen separately: worldwide, worldwide excluding the United States, or narrower zones (Europe, Africa) for tighter budgets. The entry-level plan excludes maternity, which becomes a paid option on the higher plans.
Allianz Care’s real strength is on the corporate side: it is one of the few insurers equally able to manage a single employee and a group contract covering several hundred people, with a particularly dense network in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
